Domaine LaBalle, Cote du Gascogne

Laballe was founded by the Laudet family nearly 200 years ago.  Its vineyards are situated on the “sables fauves”, or tawny sands, unique to the Bas-Armagnac region.  The color of the soil is due to a high content of iron oxide which lends freshness and minerality to the wines.  Those vineyards planted on the narrow strips of sables fauves may be called “Terroir Landais” rather than the generic “Côtes de Gascogne”.  The 17 hectare estate is known as an Armagnac producer but was the first in the region to make and bottle wine.  Overseen by Cyril Laudet, the wines of Laballe are being discovered for their amazing quality and value.
